Today I was sitting in the office at SVSU (Saginaw Valley State University) when I got the screen of death.

Nightmare.
This is why you take the extra 20 minutes at most to backup all your files. Technology is great and wonderful but NOT 100% reliable. However, I didn't backup my catalog for about 3 months so all the edits I had made is Lightroom were lost.
Lucky.
For me I happen to batch process a lot of my work. Through Onone plug-in you can edit copies of your originals and stack with the originals. Therefore, all my edited copies were saved. I had to create a new catalog and import images from disk. I read something interesting about automatically writing edits into XMP. That way if your catalog gets corrupted then when you re-import your images all your edits will be saved.

No images were lost and minimal time was wasted.
Thank you Lord.
