Coming to an End

The trip is coming to a close. It was fun and a very intense 6 days. Lots of the students were wore out by Saturday and stayed inside most of the day. I was able to get a little shopping done and buy gifts for the loved ones. The markets here get crazy but there are some great deals if you know where to look. My flight is at 7 am, so I have a 5 am taxi ride to the airport. Off to bed.

Highlight: Well, not really, some how the sound on my MacBook Pro stopped working and is glowing red, and my Canon 5D Mark II is broken and wont turn on (that is why you dont travel with one camera body, thankfully the Canon Mark III is going strong)

Day trip Arezzo, Italy...still

Here are a few shots from Arezzo and Florence since I forgot to post a few from Florence. Today was a day trip to Arezzo where shopping is closed from 1:30pm to 4:00 pm. It was a good time just walking around checking out the town. The food was wonderful today: salad with boiled egg and crab.

Highlight: Chillin' with the students for dinner at their apartment.

Italy

I couldn't post to the blog last night because it was late and the internet here is a joke. I have been spending the nights here in Florence and during the day visiting different cities. Yesterday we spend the day in Siena and San Gimignano. San Gimignano is a very small mid evil town with lots of towers. I have been following study abroad students around on all these excursions for the University. The fun part is that on these excursions 90% of the things the students do your not allowed to photograph.

Highlight: icecream

Florance, Italy

Spent the day in Florance walking through churches and museums. I am here shooting photographs for Saginaw Valley State University and documenting a study abroad trip for a week. For those who don't know you are not allowed to take pictures in any museums and most churches don't allow photography either. So as you can image not to many shots were taken today. Tomorrow hopefully will be a different story. Realization of the day: Italy is into their naked marble statues and I'm over it.

The Galleria delgi Uffizi is a pretty sweet place to check out. I saw lots of extremely old works of work and was able to recognize many from art history back in the day.

Rome in 120 minutes

I finally made it to the hotel room last night around 7 pm. It was a long 21 hours before I made it to Florence. There was a 7 hour layover in Rome which is ridiculous since Florance is only a 3 hour bus ride. There are 2 hour bus tours of Roman which I decided to do since we had 7 hours. Below are a few shots from the top of a moving bus.

First impression on Italy: I was sitting outside a little cafe eating a sandwich and coke (12 eur or around $15) and a bum walks up to a random guy, throws a fake punch at his face, and then begs for money. High prices and crazy bums.
